JTT is pleased to announce its third solo show with Berkeley-based artist Marlon Mullen (b. 1963, Richmond, CA). The exhibition includes Mullen’s most recent paintings, made in 2017 and 2018. In this new body of work, Mullen primarily paints the covers of art publications using his unique method of line-making in which he paints the foreground rst and lls in the negative space after. As Mullen’s densely painted backgrounds overcome the foreground, text and line become abstracted from font into image.
This show was made possible with the support of NIAD Art Center.
